Webinars

RMGirl breaks down records management into bite-size chunks, making the principles easy to understand and put into practice. You will come away armed with useful information that you can put into practice immediately.  You will have access to slides following the webinar.

The concepts and theories that RM Girl teaches in these webinars can be applied worldwide. However, RMGirl is located in the UK and the material reflects this.

Some webinars specifically target delegates based in Northern Ireland and Scotland, but your learnings may be applicable outside these regions. Slides are available afterwards.

Improve my records management plan (Scotland) (1 hour)

As part of Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011, Scottish Authorities must provide a Records Management Plan to demonstrate that records management exists.  There are 15 parts to the plan which must be evidenced.

In this webinar,  we will take a sample records management plan and have a look at what an organisation can use as evidence. We’ll also assess ways that you can improve your own records management plan. Additionally, you can bring your current plans to this webinar and discuss these in confidence.

Applying retention to my organisation’s records (1 hour)

What information do you have?  Why you have it?  How long do you need to keep it for?

Firstly, we’ll examine the lifecycle of information, paying particular attention to the ‘destruction’ stage’. We’ll look at what you can dispose of as a matter of routine, when you need to have a specialist review information,  and creating disposal registers.

Completing an information asset audit (1.5 hours)

An information asset audit will help you to understand exactly what assets you have within your organisation.  Knowing what you have and why you have it is invaluable for day-to-day records management. Furthermore, it helps towards compliance.

In this webinar, we will go through the questions you need to ask. Then we’ll look at how to complete the initial audit quickly and efficiently, and how to maintain it.  Finally, we’ll look at what makes a ‘good’ register and how it will help your organisation going forward.

Apply Legal Admissibility and Evidential Weight (BS10008) (2 hours)

In this webinar, you will learn what ‘Legal Admissibility’ is and what it takes to comply with this. We’ll also cover the process from scanning your records right the way through to the criteria for destruction

Moving to Office 365 – Organising before Migrating (2 hours)

Before you move to Office 365, there is a degree of organising that needs to take place before you migrate any data! How do you decide what to move? Where should you move it to?  What if it’s out of date? Have you got rid of everything you no longer need?  What about metadata?

In this webinar, we will look at how to organise your information before you migrate it across to Office 365.

Moving to Office 365 – creating a taxonomy that will work (1.5 hours)

When you move to Office 365 you will also need to set up a taxonomy that works. Will you rely solely on metadata or do you need to create folders?

In this webinar, we will go through the construction of a taxonomy, and the pros and cons for your organisation and whether it will work for you.  RMGirl will walk you through the planning stage, ensuring that you get it right the first time.
