My name is Emily Overton, and I’m a nerd. A nerd that you can hire!
Records Management Girl Consulting is a business born from my experience. I started out on Twitter talking incessantly about records management to anyone who would listen. Now I’m the director of a limited company offering consultancy and training services.
People often comment on my enthusiasm for records management – it doesn’t have to be dull! I love undertaking large projects that change an organisation’s approach to records management. I have over fifteen years of industry experience to share and I deliver projects within budget and on time!
I’m an IRMS accredited professional and was recently awarded a fellowship. I’m committed to professional development and regularly take part in workshops to keep my skills up-to-date. My qualifications include PRINCE2 certification, and I recently gained my Post Graduate Diploma in Records Management and Information Rights.
Between 2011 and 2019 I served on the IRMS Senior Leadership Team. I finished in May 2019 after eight years of volunteer work, including two years as Vice-Chair. During my tenure, I undertook roles including Director of Groups, where I managed nearly 20 officers. I was also the Director of Training and Representation. expanding the training opportunities available to members.
I am a documented author of the NHS Code of Practice for Records Management. This involved working with NHS England, the Department of Health, the National Archives, the Information Governance Alliance and NHS Digital
For consultancy projects, my specialities include GDPR & Records Management, SharePoint Information Architecture, Information Asset Registers, Data Flows, Offsite Storage, BS10008:2014 & Scanning, Retention Schedules & Policies, EDRMS, E-Payslips, Systems Implementation, Contract Management, Audits and much more.
